Dr. Mark Lauria

Dr. Mark Lauria, ERB's board chair, has been Executive Director of the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS) since 2009. He was previously Head of School at Foothill Country Day School in Claremont California, and has served as a teacher, school principal and assistant superintendent in the Ontario-Montclair School District, also in California. Throughout his career, Dr. Lauria has emphasized the importance of global educational opportunities for students and professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators, with a strong interest in creating leadership experiences for women and people of color. He has also been active in ensuring accreditation processes that serve schools and learners. Dr. Lauria has a bachelor’s degree from Claremont McKenna College, and a master’s and Ph.D. from Claremont Graduate University.
